Without the Bible we would not know what we need to become, live and grow as a Christian. It is essential to growth, spiritual maturity, and effectiveness.
- Romans 10:14 says. “How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed ? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard ? And how will they hear without a preacher ?”
- 2 Timothy 3:15 says, “and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
The words needed for salvation come from Scripture. So you either have to read the Bible or have someone who knows it tell you.
The Bible supplies spiritual nourishment to believers. Without daily reading of the Bible we can find ourselves in poor health spiritually. Jesus, “But He answered and said, “It is written, MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.”
The Bible helps us to understand God, and His revelation or unveiling of Himself to us. So that we can know His will for our lives. His commandments, and the teachings of Christ are all found in Scripture. Jesus gave us the perfect example of how necessary the Bible is to us when He fought temptation from Satan by quoting Scripture. He did not get in a fist fight, yell or argue with the devil. He simply quoted God’s Word.
The Bible is absolutely necessary to learning about God, His will, and to help us in our Sanctification.
