The Bible: Final Thoughts (For now)

The Bible is made up of 66 different books, and was written over a period of more than 1500 years by over 40 different authors. The Holy Spirit guided the human writer to record what God wanted us to know. It is without any mistakes, and is completely trustworthy. You have to accept all of it, there is no picking and choosing which parts your believe are truth. The more your read, the more you grow closer to God, and the objections you may have grow smaller, and sometimes just go away.

Just as God spoke everything into existence, God speaks to us today through the Bible.

  • In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. – John 1:1

Everything else is this world may fail us but God’s Word never will.

  • The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. – Isaiah 40:8

God’s Word will accomplish His will.

  • So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth ; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. – Isaiah 55:11

God’s Word cuts deep into our cold, hard hearts, it is alive,  is active, and changes us.

  • For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12

I think about when I first started reading my Bible over 15 years ago, and how it was tough to digest sometimes. I could read the first 2 chapters of Genesis, some of the Psalms, and the Gospels but that was about it. Somethings just did not make any sense, and I did not fully grasp what I was reading. There are 2 important things I have learned about reading the Bible. The first one, until your are in Christ most of it’s true revelation seems to be hidden. The 2nd is that you need to read the Bible more than listening to sermons or reading books from famous pastors, preachers, and evangelists. Those things can be good but they will never take the place of reading God’s Word first hand.

We will never in our finite minds understand everything the Bible has to say, but through diligent study we will know what we need to know. The more you read, the more you get to know God, and understand Him. You will know what is truth and what is false. That is important becomes the enemy is always at work in trying to deceive us.

I have fallen in love with God’s Word, you should do the same.
