As I stated in a previous blog, I am reading Christian Beliefs: 20 Basics every Christian Should know by Wayne and Elliot Grudem. Here of are some of main points of Chapter 2 titled “What is God Like.”
God is Unity
God is unified in all His attributes, He is not more of one attribute than another. He is not divided into parts, and He is not one attribute at one point in history, and another attribute at a different time. He is fully and completely every attribute at every time.
Scripture never singles out one of God’s attributes as more important than the rest. Example: God is light (1 John 1:5), and God is love (1 John 4:8), He is not part love and part light, He is not love during the day, and light at night. He is at all times and ways both light and love.
Each of God’s attributes represents an aspect of His character that provides perspective on who He is, and who He has made us to be.
