My Bucket List: New Beginnings

A few years ago I watched a movie called the “The Bucket List” with Jack Nicholson & Morgan Freeman. It’s about two men with terminal cancer that decide to complete their bucket list, things you want to do before you “kick the bucket.” I was inspired to start a bucket list at the time, but quickly discarded it. After having one of the my previous list items actually happen on a few occasions, with one being last night, I have decided to put a list together. Ultimately, I pray that God’s will for my life be my will, and that I will only truly accomplish things that bring glory to our Heavenly Father. But maybe, just maybe I might be able to accomplish some of these things although some items may seem trivial.

My list to begin with in no particular order.

+Have a great dinner with good friends that is filled with laughter, and great conversation. – I often see scenes in movies where a group of people are sitting around a table and they are really enjoying there time together. Eating great food, drinking wine, laughing and having great conversations.  There is something about this experience that reminds me of family and great relationships. Something that I can say I have been lacking on in my life.

Completed: 10/7/11 at Buca Di Beppo in Austin, Texas celebrating Jessica Larson’s B-Day.  I hope this was just the beginning of many more.

+Have a spiritual conversation that helps genuinely lead someone to Christ. -I know that the Holy Spirit is the One who truly draws a person to repentance, and a relationship with Jesus. But I hope that I can be used as a vessel in the process.

Completed: ?

+Have coffee and beignets at Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans, LA. – I honestly love coffee, good pastries and the “coffeeshop” experience. Just seems like it would be an enjoyable experience. I hope that I can share this with someone. We shall see?

Completed: ?

+See something majestic & awe inspiring. – I know that creation pours out worship and praise to it’s Creator continuously.  I have seen many pictures and movie scenes of mountains covered in snow, lakes that gleam, and beaches that have the bright & clear waters. Somethings you have to see and experience in person to take in fully. I don’t know what or where this may be but I am looking forward to whatever that is.

Completed: ?

+Dance at a Wedding. -Trouble is that  I don’t know how to dance, and seem to lack all sense of rhythm. There just seems to be something fun and memorable about this.  Looks like I will need to take some dance lessons if this one is ever going to happen.

Completed: ?

+Travel. I have spent most of my life is Austin, and although its an awesome town I would like to see other places.  Some places that come to mind?

  • Colorado: Mountains/nature
  • Las Vegas: Just to go
  • Seattle: Pike’s Place Market
  • New York: 9/11 Memorial, Serendipity, Times Square, Lion King on Broadway

Completed: ?

+Change someone’s life for the better. – God has been good to me, and has blessed me. I may not be rich, but I know that I can give. Maybe I can help someone some how that will improve their life in someway.

Completed: ?

Whether I completes these or not I know that my value and worth is not in these things. My value is found in Jesus Christ. I just know that I want to live life fuller than I have before. I hope to add to this list in the future, and maybe they might include doing them with someone special in my life. Who knows? This is just the beginning.

Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. – 1 Corinthians 10:31
