My First Half Marathon: Training Begins

I am not a runner by any means, and I dare say I did not get the athletic gene as well. This year marked a change in my lifestyle to lose weight, get fit, and eat healthier. I have made good progress but still  have a long way to go. A couple of months ago I made a decision to run the Austin Livestrong Half Marathon on February 19, 2012. Since this is my first race, my goal is just simply to finish! I know it won’t be easy but it will be rewarding. This will also help me accomplish my overall health & fitness goals.

I needed to clear my head and refocus so earlier this evening I went for my first run, and it was great. It was nice just to have that time with God, and feel His presence. I am really looking forward to the next 6 months, and the improvements I will see. I know that I will need to be disciplined in my eating, and exercise schedule. I will need my friends to help keep me accountable for this endeavor. It will all be for God’s glory, and He will be my strength.

First goal: Complete 6 miles by the end of October 2011.
