Much has occurred in our world this past year. Things that would cause the Body of Christ to be concerned, fearful, and become discouraged. As a result, maybe your idols, security, and theology may have been exposed. If so, this is God’s kindness! Our hope and trust is not in this world, our nation, or our leaders but in God Almighty that created all things, knows all things, and reigns over all things.
Here are a few verses to meditate on:
5 Thus says the LORD, “Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the LORD. 6 “For he will be like a bush in the desert And will not see when prosperity comes, But will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, A land of salt without inhabitant. 7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD And whose trust is the LORD. 8 “For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes ; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit. – Jeremiah 17:5
Daniel said, “Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him. 21 “It is He who changes the times and the epochs ; He removes kings and establishes kings ; He gives wisdom to wise men And knowledge to men of understanding. 22 “It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things ; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him. (Daniel 2:20-22)
But God is the Judge;
He puts down one and exalts another. (Psalm 75:7)
1 Praise the LORD ! Praise the LORD, O my soul ! 2 I will praise the LORD while I live ; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. 3 Do not trust in princes, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. 4 His spirit departs, he returns to the earth ; In that very day his thoughts perish. 5 How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the LORD his God, 6 Who made heaven and earth, The sea and all that is in them; Who keeps faith forever ; 7 Who executes justice for the oppressed ; Who gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free. 8 The LORD opens the eyes of the blind ; The LORD raises up those who are bowed down ; The LORD loves the righteous ; 9 The LORD protects the strangers ; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked. 10 The LORD will reign forever, Your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD ! (Psalm 146)
