The Narrow Gate

13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matt. 7:13-14)

Contrary to the world’s beliefs & false liberal Theology there aren’t many paths to eternal life. Jesus is not a way, but the way. (John 14:6) Jesus is also not someone that you just add to your life.

The Christian life is not meant to be easy. It is not meant to be popular. It is challenging to enter into because you must be willing give everything up to follow Jesus. You may be mocked, ridiculed, and perhaps even persecuted for your faith. Relationship with Christ means submitting all of your life to Him. It means that you are willing to give up your earthly desires because Jesus is more beautiful, radiant, and glorious!

In Luke 13, Jesus puts it this way, “Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.”

If you claim to know Jesus Christ ask yourself.

  • How is my walk with Him? Is it easy?
  • Are my views about Jesus, and Scripture popular in today’s culture?
  • Is your faith being tested?
  • Are you struggling with sin? Or does sin not bother you?
  • Have you openly rejected certain truths of Scripture?
  • Is Jesus “a way” to eternal life?

If you have answered yes to some of these then you might not have entered through the narrow gate. You may not know Jesus. The good news is that you can know Jesus! That you can repent, and by grace through faith begin a genuine relationship with Christ and be reconciled to God the Father. But please do not wait! There is an urgency in Christ’s invitation for a day and time is coming when it will be too late!
